JUST MY LUCK SERIES # 2.

A BLISTER ON THE HEEL OF MY RIGHT FOOT!

To the Customer Services of Sports Direct.

I just hobbled upstairs to my bedroom and here’s why?

I brought some new ‘op of the range trainers,’ one side too small for me!

I went to Sports Direct on North Street in Brighton and asked for a size 11.

Upon pushing my foot in it felt tight! Too small.

The sales assistant looked at me distastefully.

“They are running trainers. They are supposed to feel small!”

I had already wasted enough time and you could see the assistant was getting impatient.

“The trainers will expand with your foot,” he assured me.

Then he sold me two pairs of running socks at £5.99, which initially I said no to, but being made to feel like a fool again, as if to say-

‘You just spent £75.00 the most expensive running trainers in the store and you are skimping on the socks!!!’

I BROUGHT THEM TOO!

So anyway to cut along story short I’ve been on two runs and now, I can’t run in them again, EVER!

The first time I went for a run it was amazing. They were tight but I was assured they would expand.

  • The grip was fantastic.
  • Ankle support superb.
  • Bounce excellent.

Everything was going well expect the obvious fact they were too small and they were really beginning to hurt me.

At the end of the hour long run across fields; as were the trainers in-tended for, I simply could not run anymore.

My little toe hurt too much. It was in agony!

It was too late to take them back because I had crushed its box thinking I won’t need it again.

I NEEDED TO GET TO OUR INDEPENDENT HQ ELECTION OFFICE IN PEACEHAVEN.

On the second occasion I wore them, I embarked on a 6 mile run from Moulsecoomb on the outskirts of Brighton, across country to Peacehaven along the coast.

A quarter of the way in I was forced to stop. A serious blister on my right heel meant I could no longer wear them.

I nearly abandoned the journey but luckily had packed my flip-flops in the event this might happen.

Along the nature trail when the path turned into gravel and jagged rock, I was forced to put on my trainers again to protect my feet.

Because of the extra time applied, I had to run in extreme agony all because I was mis-sold a pair trainers too tight for me.

I TAKE PARTIAL BLAME FOR NOT BEING STRONG ENOUGH TO SAY NO.

While I have the receipt, I don’t have the original box, hence unable to get a refund.

Mike Ashley
So essentially I’m left with nothing and it cost me £75.00!

Its all very well for Mike Ashley, multi-millionaire owner of Newcastle United Football Club, but what about the Independent Guy, just getting on with life, making it a better place for the kids and doing his best for a better tomorrow?

What about the guy who just wants to run in comfortable running trainers that fit him?

What about the guy who just wants to lose the pounds (not £75.00) to look good for the general election in 2015 for Brighton Kemptown?

At the very least Mike Ashley and Dave Forsey from Sports Direct; will you make a political donation to Independent in Brighton Kemptown 2015?

Dear Mr Taylor,
Thank you for your email.

I was sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with the footwear purchased from our Brighton store.
Generally speaking when items of footwear rub causing blisters and cuts it is because the item of foot wear does not fit properly. Manufacturers generally put sizes in items to help customers to choose the correct one but these are only a guideline. It is the customers responsibility to make sure an item fits before purchase and we have areas to try footwear on in all of our stores. It is our company policy that we will only offer to refund or exchange an item if there in as inherent manufacturing fault with it. Just because an item doesnt fit an individual does not mean that it has a manufacturing fault. We feel it is the responsibility of the customer to make sure an item fits before making the purchase.
Secondly all returned items must be returned in exactly the same condition as they were purchased in. All items must have their tags attached and it is also imperative that items have not been worn or marked in any way. This is because every item we accept back must be in a re-saleable condition. There are signs throughout the store explaining this.
Unfortunately as the item has been worn and is not in a resalable condition we would not be in a position to offer an exchange or refund on this item.

Kind regards,

Sally
